Red-Carpet Trend Spot: Go Glamorous with Black and Gold
Last week Priyanka Chopra stunned in a fresh off the LFW runway Arpan Vohra black and gold dress. The beautiful column gown featured gold stripe embellishments which she accessorised with a black Louis Vuitton clutch, striking gold Viange earrings and a side-swept do.
The black and gold combination is a sure win on the red carpet as we have seen earlier with many celebrity appearances. There couldn’t be a more glamorous mix of colours. Who can forget Naomi Watts' Alexander McQueen at the People’s Choice Awards, Kate Hudson’s Alexander McQueen at the Golden Globes andNicole Kidman’s L’Wren Scott Oscar gown that got them on every best dressed list.
Earlier this month Emmy Rossum donned a 20’s flapper girl fringed gold Naeem Khan dress with black stripe accents, which she paired with Rupert Sanderson sandals and lacquered hair. Vanessa Hudgens shimmered in a Jenny Packham plunging black dress with gold accents some time back at a Golden Globes after party. She carried an eye-catching gold Swarovski clutch.

Back home, our celebs teach us how we can dazzle in black and gold.
The easiest way to max this look is to wear an elegant black and gold sari like Kajol in her Sabyasachi. You can never go wrong with this one!
The other option is to go for a black dress with gold accents like the minimalist Tom Ford dress with a bold gold belt that Kareena Kapoor wore to a recent event.
Gold tops and shirts on black pants also look very attractive as seen on Sridevi and Anushka Sharma.
The combination is a sure-shot way to turn heads at an evening event. Keep the hair and make-up clean. Go for lacquered locks that keep the hair off your face. Experiment with gold accented black footwear and keep accessories and makeup muted to avoid looking like a disco ball.

Known for her hourglass figure, this Mangalorean beauty’s sense of style evolved manifold since tying the knot with NRI Raj Kundra. The actress has now become a point of reference in the world of fashion and looks uber chic in every single appearance.
We dived into our archives to document the fashion of this stylish Bollywood mom, who has evolved from an ingénue to a style icon.
Have a look!
Kareena Kapoor's style icon: sister Karisma or mom-in-law Sharmila Tagore?
Kareena Kapoor is known for being one of the most fashionable actresses in Bollywood. For many, Bebo is a fashion icon. And when it comes to choosing her own style guru, the actress looks up to both her sister Karisma and mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore.
Both Karisma and Sharmila were noticed for their eclectic sartorial tastes when they ruled the roost in the industry. While Karisma is known to dress immaculately both on and off the screen, Sharmila donned the bikini for her film An Evening in Paris way back in 1967.
Kareena says, "Actually, there is quite a tough competition at home. I like my mother-in-law Sharmilaji's dressing sense, both on and off screen. She is just brilliant. I have also looked up to Karisma when it comes to style and my mother (Babita). So I really don't have to look outside when it comes to fashion."
Kareena could be always dressed to the hilt but the newly-married actress says she doesn't interfere when it comes to hubby Saif Ali Khan's wardrobe. "Both of us give advice to each other on clothes but I prefer that he shops for himself rather than me shopping for him. He knows best what is perfect for his body. He has his own style."
Ask Kareena when Saif looks best and she says, "I feel he looks best in a suit." Point noted.

The importance of comfort
SNEAKERS. I usually don't wear sneakers but last weekend, after a really busy week I just wanted to flutter around free from the burden of heels and wedges dipped in total comfort. I decided to opt for a denim lookthat I brightened with a red coat. Actually I thought the coat was a little too much, when we took these pictures there was a lot of sun but just at the climax a strong and super cold wind got up and this made meglad I made this choice. Well on the other hand we are in March, I hope that spring run over us soon. Have a nice day folks!
